In the key primary state of New Hampshire, Donald J. Trump has established a commanding 33-point lead for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
According to the most recent survey, Trump has received 51% of the support of potential voters, while Ron DeSantis, the governor of Florida, has received only 18%. With 53 percent of the vote versus DeSantis’ 33 percent in a head-to-head matchup, Trump leads DeSantis by 20 points.
Chris Sununu, the governor of New Hampshire, received 10% of the vote, making him the only other contender to receive double-digit support. Both former U.S. Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and Former Congresswoman Liz Cheney are supported by 4% of voters. Former Vice President Mike Pence is supported by 2% of voters, while Sen. Tim Scott and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy are supported by 1% each.
Between April 2 and April 11, J.L. Partners Polls conducted the survey.
As it becomes more clear that DeSantis is the establishment pick and is compelled to signal against MAGA and America First in order to placate the donor class, DeSantis has been losing ground in the polls.
“Recently, former President Trump criticized Florida Governor Ron DeSantis for using “neocon terminology” in regard to the situation in Ukraine.
In a most recent released video, Trump slammed the governor of Florida for taking a stance that he felt wasn’t serious and reflected an unneeded increase in rhetoric at a time when there is a nuclear superpower carrying out a contentious military operation in Ukraine.
Citing comments DeSantis made in 2022 about the conflict, “Trump argued that such narrow-minded thinking is to blame for decades of failed diplomacy and even ultimately war. “Calling Russia a ‘gas station coupled with a bunch of nuclear weapons’ or calling Vladimir Putin a ‘authoritarian gas station clerk who has some legacy nuclear weapons coming from the old Soviet Union’ are exactly the types of simplistic thinking,” Trump claimed.
The dismissive comments made by DeSantis regarding the Russian danger have been compared by Trump to those of Romney, a failed candidate for the presidency.
Trump argued that “people who insist on haughtily treating Russia as if it has no culture, history, or pride relative to all the rest of the world, like Mitt Romney and Ron DeSantis, aren’t just ignorant as well as foolish, but their attitude also causes it to be impossible to negotiate a peaceful resolution.”
