Last month, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, a Republican, filed a move to resign as speaker of the House, specifically targeting House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La). Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky, a Republican, has stated that he will be cosponsoring the move to vacate, therefore, Greene is now receiving support.
“I just announced to Mike Johnson in a conference that I am supporting the @RepMTG-introduced Motion to Vacate. In order to select a new speaker without ever being without a GOP speaker, he ought to announce his departure in advance, just like Boehner did, Massie tweeted on Tuesday. He declared that he would not step down. In another piece, Massie said, “I told him that he was the one person who could stop us from experiencing what happened last October.”
Following the removal of California Representative Kevin McCarthy from the speakership last year, Republicans had difficulty choosing his successor until they chose Johnson. McCarthy ultimately decided to quit Congress.
Johnson declared on Monday that the House will vote on legislation pertaining to aid to Israel, the Ukraine, and other topics.
“Instead of leading our Republican majority or holding Democrats accountable, Speaker Johnson is caving in to every demand made by Democrats. In a post on X, Greene said, “And he is utilizing filthy swamp techniques to push through the America Last agenda.”
“In order to put America first and advance a Republican program, Speaker Johnson needs to declare his resignation and give Republicans time to choose a replacement. I appreciate @RepThomasMassie supporting my motion to resign. “We need a new speaker,” Greene tweeted once more.

I think it’s time to get adults in Congress and the senate. Had it occurred to anyone, that sometimes you have to talk to the other side?
