Republican Representative Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin, who recently announced he will not seek reelection in 2024, has drawn significant attention for his stance on the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.
His decision not to run again has been met with a sense of relief by people who actually believe in conservative principles.
Gallagher’s vote against the impeachment of Mayorkas, as reported by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, was seen by many as a clear deviation from the Republican party line and indicative of a more moderate or “RINO” (Republican In Name Only) approach.
This stance, alongside his reasoning that he “just saw this issue differently” and it was “a matter of principle,” has not sat well with real conservatives. His departure is a positive step towards maintaining a more uniformly conservative representation in Congress.
Elected to represent Wisconsin’s 8th Congressional District in 2016, Gallagher has been a significant figure in Congress, notably serving as the chairman of the House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party.
However, his recent decisions, especially regarding the impeachment vote, have overshadowed his previous achievements.
As Gallagher prepares to exit the political arena and return to the private sector, focusing on his family and future endeavors, his departure is an opportunity for the Republican Party to nominate and elect someone who more closely aligns with their core values and principles.
His next career move, aimed at what he calls preventing global conflicts like World War III, remains a topic of interest, but it’s his exit from Congress that is being particularly celebrated by those who advocate for stronger conservative representation and unity within the Republican Party.
What does it take to throw your country your future your life under the bus?
Lots of money from the CCP, he has taken a page out of the Biden playbook for how to get rich while serving in Congress. He voted to continue to allow the Chinese to pour in over our border. Someone needs to check his bank accounts and watch his spending and business ventures for the next 10 years. No one walks away from fat city Congress without having a solid financial plan for their future. He was in the perfect position to take graft from the CCP. His vote makes zero sense.
