As the cameras seemed to go dark on Wednesday, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) had warm words for CNN host Jake Tapper, who is on the far left.
A mic’d-up Johnson remarked, “You are always fair,” in a conversation that Breitbart News overheard shortly after his lengthy interview on CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper.
As a few reporters watched from outside the House floor in the Capitol, Johnson joined Tapper virtually. During the conversation, he said he had known Tapper for a long time—a seasoned left-wing partisan with a reputation for spreading lies.

President Joe Biden supported Johnson’s foreign aid program on Wednesday, which would transfer tens of billions of dollars in public funds to Ukraine. Johnson used his CNN interview to promote this package. Johnson had opposed money for Ukraine before flip-flopping in March and now prioritizes funding.
In a similar high-profile reversal on the Foreign Service Intelligence Act, the besieged Speaker backed an earlier-passed FISA extension in April.
