This week, veteran actor James Woods said that the public is unaware of how really “evil” Hollywood can be, a place that exceeds their “worst fears.”
A Woods fan inquired about the actual scope of Hollywood’s wickedness in a since-deleted tweet, and the actor responded with a startling statement.
“James, important question. I have a lot of respect for you as an actor, therefore I was wondering: How evil is Hollywood?” questioned the user.
“Multiply the worst of your fears by 100,” Woods said.
The Once Upon a Time in America actor left his tweet blank and then removed it.
Woods hardly qualifies as the first actor to make such a criticism of Hollywood. Actor Jonathan Roumie (The Chosen) used some strong language in his statement during the March for Life earlier this year, as observed by Bounding Into Comics.
“We have been seeing a growing polarity between darkness and light for some time now. Many parts of culture have shown it to be there,” he added.
“However, as an artist in the entertainment business, I’d want to address the situation as I see it. The darkness of the images employed in movies, television, and music has sharply and unsettlingly increased during the past several years. The surroundings have changed for the worst,” he said. “And sometimes even having a demonic tone. Compared to past years, this is more so. Occasionally subliminal. often outward. In popular programming, plots incorporating the occult, witchcraft, demons, and even Satanic aspects are rather prevalent. Many include troubling spiritual and psychological material.”
In a subsequent statement, Roumie noted that “media has turned into an entryway to attitudes and behaviors that kids desire to imitate that reject God, refuse the light, and eventually reject every part of the community which brings life.”
“Over the last several decades, I have seen God quietly but profoundly disappearing from popular culture. In his place, some of the most divisive philosophies and imagery for young hearts and minds,” he said.
