Oakland has chosen to deter a massive homeless camp and halt copper thieves by… removing traffic lights at the four-way intersection and replacing them with stop signs, according to a report that should go directly into the “you gotta be kidding me” folders.
It’s remarkable that this idea hasn’t been considered before. To put an end to the tent cities, authorities could even seize control of all local businesses from their owners and relocate homeless people into these spaces. While you are at it, consider evicting the homeowners who are paying their mortgages to free up even more space.
Why be concerned about the area’s residents? After all, this is Gavin Newsom’s Golden State.
One Oaklander remarked, “It feels like the city just gave up on them.”
Locals who talked with CBS News claimed that Oakland has seen a rise in theft and crime, including the theft of copper cables and other public infrastructure. The city put cement barriers over its electrical boxes in an attempt to stop thieves from tampering with them, but to little effect. At a major crossing, the city has started to replace the traffic signals with stop signs. According to Tam Le, owner of Le’s Auto Body, which is right next to the crossroads, “it is basically telling us that the city is giving up on us,” she told CBS News. “I think you really need to clear up this homeless encampment if you genuinely want to fix the stop sign.”
Perhaps it won’t matter much because, according to reports, the lights broke about half the time anyway.
“[Resident] Mason Young said that stop signs are preferable to broken traffic signals, blaming them for last year’s collision that caused a truck to crash into Le’s repair shop’s fence. “The city made at least a couple attempts to repair the traffic light. However, when they have restored it, which usually happens in a week or two, it will go out again,” Le remarked.
The campsite is large and keeps growing.
“The camp is located on E. 12th Street and spans around three blocks. Despite the city’s attempts to remove it, it continues to expand. Furthermore, I have no idea how long we will stay here. Le stated, “We will vanish as soon as they move to our side of the walkway.” While the city stated that the stop signs are temporary, they did not provide a date for when the traffic signals will return.

However, if you question Newsom about his disastrous policies, he will not talk about them; instead, he will use the term “mindful” around five times in a phrase before waxing lyrical about the perils of red state governors and abortions.
I wonder whether Californians can take any more of this kind of treatment, or if they are so masochistic that they will simply keep electing incompetents like him to office until the only people left are the homeless, the criminal underworld, and government employees.

The Democrats can end homelessness in one session of Congress. They will just change their pronouns. The term “Homeless” will be banned – and you could be arrested just for saying it – and replaced by something like “Free Range Americans” or “The Residentially Challenged”. IF we took all of the money that “OUR” government simply GIVES away each year to countries that hate us – there would be huge reserves to help with issues like infrastructure, housing for the homelessness, student loans forgiveness, assistance for the elderly etc. And it would not cost anyone a penny. They could just use the money they already take and use it more beneficially on AMERICANS – ya know – the people they took the money from in the first place.

Just do a prank call to Newsome, pretending to be the dictator of China and say “I am coming to Oakland for a visit”. Voila, all of the homeless will be whisked away and given housing, the streets cleaned to perfection and that stoplight fixed.
