Democrats Try To Justify High Energy Bill–End Up Embarrassing Themselves Instead

After energy prices rose 8.7% in January, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) urged on Wednesday that Democratic legislators emphasize “Lower Energy Bills” to their voters.

Together with Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI), leader of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee, Schumer wrote the letter to urge Democratic senators to take advantage of the forthcoming recess to push for lower energy prices.

The letter started with the statement that “thanks to the outstanding work of President Biden and his Government, there is a team for us to engage with as we work to turn this law into well-paying employment, lower costs, and new economic prospects for the American people.”

In the letter’s final paragraph, Schumer and Stabenow claim that a tax credit included in the so-called Inflation Reduction Act gives citizens the chance to experience decreased energy costs.

“Lower Energy Bills: The Inflation Reduction Act and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law currently offer a variety of incentives to American customers. Families could receive up to $14,000 in tax credits alone to help them make their homes more energy-efficient,” according to the letter.

The talking point was promoted by Democrats as energy costs rose in January. In January 2023 compared to January 2022, the cost of energy increased 8.7 percent, according to the consumer price index (CPI) announced on Tuesday. Additionally, from December 2022 to January 2023, energy prices increased by 3.1% in a single month.

The rising cost of electricity also had an impact on energy services. According to the CPI report, the price of energy services has increased 15.6 percent in only a single year. The price rise from December 2022 to January 2023 was 3.4 percent.

Rising energy prices have had a significant role in the total inflation figures over the past year. Biden’s 40-year-high inflation was predicted by a Moody’s assessment to cost American households an additional $5,520 in 2022, or $460 per month.

  1. I don’t know where they get their figures but my electric bill doubled. The most I usually paid was $250 during the cold months. Mostly it was under $200 a month, and this month it was over $500. I never had a bill so high.

  2. Don’t know who calculates percentage increases in energy/food/taxes……but they apparently failed math. To say that energy has increased by a mere 8.7% is laughable. These idiots assume that everyone in America is ignorant. They would be terribly delusional.

    1. My gas has quadrupled in my electric has went up two and a half times since pedophile Joe and his Communist Regime has taken over thank you Democrats I’m glad you’re feeling the same burn I am

  3. Biden needs to be left out in the cold dark woods with nothing but a starving wolf maybe then he will know what the rest of us feel like trying to feed and keep our families warm

  4. BiIdenflation really sucks and the American people are really suffering. Let’s go Brandon FJB. And all the Socialist democratic Swamp creatures party. Enough of your clown show.
