Conspiracy Confirmed – Trump’s Former Lawyer Admits It All

This week, the now-disgruntled former attorney of Donald Trump disclosed to jurors in the former president’s alleged “hush money” trial that he stole tens of thousands of dollars from Trump’s firm, while defense counsel seized on Cohen’s transgressions to cast doubt on his veracity.

The historic trial began with the defense’s cross-examination of Cohen, whose pivotal evidence from last week explicitly connected Trump to the repayment of Cohen’s payment to investigate and refute accusations of an extramarital affair.

Defense lawyers interrogated Cohen for hours on his past transgressions and criminal history, trying to paint a picture of the man they believe is a serial liar and swindler who is out to destroy Trump.

When Todd Blanche, the defense attorney, questioned Cohen, he admitted stealing funds meant to cover the $50,000 he had allegedly paid to Red Finch, a technological business. Blanche emphasized, though, that Cohen had actually only given the IT business $20,000.

“Cohen, 57, said that he sent the IT business a brown paper bag containing around $20,000 in cash out of the $50,000 that was married.”He claimed to have kept the rest. Later, the Trump Organization paid him a total of $100,000 in reimbursement, according to Reuters.

“So you stole from the Trump Organization?” asks Blanche.

Cohen: “Yes, sir.”

Cohen admitted that he never reimbursed the Trump corporation and that he has never faced legal action for embezzling money from the Trump business.

He is the final prosecution witness, and Newsmax said that it is unclear if Trump’s lawyers would summon any witnesses at all, much less the presumed Republican presidential nominee.

After hearing testimony for more than four weeks about sex, money, tabloids, and the intricacies of Trump’s business recordkeeping, jurors in the first criminal trial of a former US president could begin deliberations as early as next week. The trial concerns 34 felony counts of alleged record-keeping fraud.

Prosecutors investigating Trump, in the meantime, assert that payments to Cohen, which the Trump Organization documented as legal costs, were in fact compensation for Daniels’ silence throughout Democratic attempts to tarnish Trump’s reputation as a presidential contender.

Trump entered a plea of not guilty. Cohen’s payment mechanism and the Daniels transaction were both legal, according to his attorneys.

Following a quick redirect question with Cohen, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office rested its case as Cohen departed the witness stand. If Trump’s lawyers brought their own witnesses, prosecutors would have the opportunity to call witnesses in rebuttal. Judge Juan M. Merchan has indicated that he expects closing arguments to occur on May 28th, the Tuesday after Memorial Day, despite noting scheduling conflicts.

Trump’s defense team is still deciding whether or not to call him to testify. Defense attorneys are typically reluctant to put their clients on the witness stand and subject them to prosecutors’ cross-examinations because it often results in more harm than benefit.

The now-disbarred attorney Cohen admitted lying under oath and making other false statements while testifying, many of which he said were done to “defend Trump.”

Cohen received a jail term after pleading guilty to many federal charges, which included lying to Congress, a bank, and taking part in illegal campaign financing transactions, including payments to tabloid media, before the 2016 presidential election.

Cohen’s bitter books, which have brought him millions of dollars, are also about the former president. Cohen often makes crude remarks about the president on social media.

According to Cohen, there was a plot to purchase Daniels’ silence over her claimed 2006 sexual encounter with Trump in order to keep her quiet before the end of the 2016 presidential campaign.
