2024 Overthrow Plot: Why Dems are Still Stuffing Harris’ With Cash

Kamala Harris’ campaign donors might be in for a surprise. With her presidential aspirations dashed by President-elect Donald Trump, donations to Harris on ActBlue are now being routed to something called a “Recount Account.” That’s right—if you’re thinking of throwing some cash her way, you might just be signing up to fund an attempt at overturning the clear and decisive election results.

ActBlue’s small print reveals that a portion of donations will go to the Democratic National Committee first and then trickle down to Harris’ “Recount Account.” This detail has been a head-scratcher for donors. Harris herself conceded the election just last week, telling her supporters that “we must accept the results of this election.” Yet here we are, with a recount fund in the works and no official explanation from ActBlue or her campaign.

Trump won with 312 electoral votes and claimed all seven battleground states, including a narrow victory in Wisconsin by just 30,000 votes. It would take an overturn in multiple states to change this outcome, a scenario that even Harris’ most fervent supporters know is effectively impossible. Still, for those who believe Harris might somehow flip this around, ActBlue’s recount account might be your last chance.

Of course, Harris’ website isn’t calling for a recount in the presidential race outright. Instead, it pushes the idea of “making sure all votes are counted” in still-undecided Congressional races. There’s even a new “Harris Fight Fund” donation page with messaging about keeping organizers on the ground. Clicking through to donate directs users back to ActBlue, blending campaign funds with recount efforts without much transparency. With Republicans already locking down the Senate, Democrats are now scrambling to prevent a complete loss of Congress.

Harris’ recount push shows once again how Democrats just can’t seem to take “no” for an answer. With the election results in, it’s time to move on and respect the people’s choice. But, in true Democratic fashion, they’re still clutching at straws and hoping a few thousand here or there will change the outcome. Trump’s decisive victory should be a reminder that Americans see through these games. As the dust settles, the best path forward would be for Harris and her supporters to stop pouring money into a lost cause and face reality.
