Hunter Biden, President Joe Biden’s son, reportedly used his phone to take pictures of “apparent” cocaine, crack cocaine, and other illicit substances, according to court records filed by Biden’s Department of Justice.
“During November and December 2018, the defendant took many images of films showing apparent cocaine, crack cocaine, and narcotics paraphernalia,” the DOJ claimed in a court statement on Tuesday.
Hunter Biden is facing many felony gun charges stemming from claims that he lied on a background check form to get a handgun, saying that he was not addicted to narcotics.
The lawsuit included photos of the suspected narcotics, such as lines of cocaine on a surface and a box containing further drugs and drug accessories.
A federal grand jury accused Biden, 53, last year on charges stemming from his October 2018 purchase of a Colt Cobra 38SPL handgun while allegedly under the influence of narcotics.
If convicted, Biden faces a potential sentence of 25 years in jail and a $750,000 fine.
After Biden pled not guilty, the court stated the conditions of his release, which allegedly included supervision by a United States probation officer in the Central District of California, obtaining work, and refraining from using drugs or alcohol.
In a separate criminal case in which Hunter Biden is facing tax charges, authorities emphasized his drug usage in court filings.
“Between 2016 and October 15, 2020, the defendant wasted this money on drugs, escorts and girlfriends, luxurious hotels and rental apartments, exotic automobiles, clothing, and other personal stuff; in short, everything but his taxes,” prosecutors stated.
